Volunteer at Fair Acres Today
Our staff provides for the physical and emotional well-being of the residents in a safe, pleasant, and clean environment. Many additional services are performed by others, the Fair Acres’ volunteers. The volunteers at Fair Acres contribute greatly to making resident lives fuller and more meaningful.
Our volunteer office recruits and coordinates the activities of individual and group volunteers who serve in almost any capacity in which they may wish to help. Some volunteers work independently, others in pairs or teams. Some work directly with residents and others in volunteer related office activities or retail operations such as the gift shop or traveling gift shop.
Volunteers provide a book cart service from Fair Acres’ large print library. Our volunteers have been essential to the yearly fair, an annual fund-raiser for the resident activities fund.
Volunteers are an important part of the Therapeutic Activity Department. Volunteers help coordinate bingo games, decorating units at holiday time, and providing entertainment and assistance at parties.
Volunteers hold weekly discussions and reading hours, help staff escort residents on outings, and assist with religious services.
Volunteers may find new ways to contribute, such as volunteering at home by knitting or crocheting. Perhaps, as a volunteer, you would enjoy accompanying our residents on one of their many outings to a mall, movies, restaurant, sporting event, or the shore in the summer months. If you have a gentle or therapy pet, we welcome you to become a volunteer and visit with the residents.
Volunteers are welcome to participate whenever they may be available. Volunteers already involved in service organizations, youth groups, scouting, woman’s clubs, school or college clubs or classes, are invited to bring their groups to Fair Acres to participate in whatever activities they may choose.
